The Site

The site “The Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene”, which has been inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list, is located in a small, hilly area of the province of Treviso in the Veneto region, where the effective interaction between man and the environment has resulted in a unique cultural landscape.

The Nomination
Process

The Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene UNESCO World Heritage Site Nomination project was launched in 2008. The area is in fact a veritable cultural landscape where the work of its wine producers has contributed to the creation of a unique scenario.

    Presentation of the UNESCO World Heritage Site nomination project by the Consorzio di Tutela del Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG
  • 2009

    Launch of the nomination process through Regional Government decree
  • 2010

    Official launch of the nomination process with the registration of the Site to the Ministry of Cultural Heritage Tentative List
  • 2014

    The establishing of the Temporary Association of Purpose "the Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene World Heritage Site"
  • 2016

    Signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Veneto region and 28 municipalities in order to adopt common urban planning regulations for the valorisation, protection and safeguarding of the site
  • 2017

    The Italian National Commission for UNESCO approves the application - the site evaluation process is launched
  • 2018

    “Referral” opinion of the 42nd UNESCO assembly with the request for the Dossier to be modified and integrated
  • 2019

    Inscription of the site on the World Heritage List during the 43rd UNESCO assembly in Baku
