The path
Description
From the locality of “Molinetto della Croda” in the north part of the village of Refrontolo, follow “Via San Zuanet” until you reach the location named “Piote”. Turn right on the path that crosses a bridge over the stream “Lierza” and enter the meadows, then reach “Marsini” shelter. Continue until the “Mondaresca” former farm, then follow the sign “Croda del Mus – Pecolon” and then descend among the vineyards in the locality called “Vallotai”. From here go along a stretch of asphalt road returning to the mill named “Molinetto della Croda”.
Curiosities
This fantastic mill called “Molinetto della Croda” dates back to 1630. During four centuries it was built in several times, enlarging a small building that had been built near the rocky ridge that everyone knows as “croda”, hence the origin of the name. For years he ground the flour using the energy of the “Lierza” stream thanks to an altitude jump of twelve meters. From 1913 to 1950 the milling activity was carried out by the “Morgan” family and then began a long period of abandonment. In recent times the mill has been subjected to a thorough restoration that has brought it back to its former glory. Externally it looks like a typical small rural structure, made of stone and wood, while inside you can visit several floors with the characteristic grindstone and the various rooms where lived families that have followed each other in management of the place.
