Curiosities
Among the many attractions of the “Fregona” locality, there is a particular wine that has made a special mention over time, named “Torchiato”, made from “Glera”, “Verdiso” and “Boschera” grapes using the drying technique. The production of “Torchiato di Fregona DOCG” follows an ancient procedure, today protected by a production disciplinary that exploits the particular microclimate of the area. It is said that in the seventeenth century a winemaker was forced to harvest grapes that were not perfectly ripe due to an early frost. He spread the grapes on the racks and the following spring he was amazed to find the sweetest grapes thanks to the drying. He tried to press it and put the must to rest in small barrels. One year later an extraordinary wine came out, the “Torchiato di Fregona” was born.
