The path
Description
From Piazza Roma, in the center of the town of Segusino, take Via Villa where there are old dwellings built in local stone. Arrived at the bridge in via Cal del Pont, you deviate towards the woods and then take the path that goes up the Valle del Riù until you reach the enchanting village of Stramare. Leaving the village, follow the path n.1001 coinciding with “Strada de la Mont” that leads to Miliés. Leave the historic center on the left pointing towards the slopes of the Miliane hills where you intercept the path 1002 that descends to the church of San Barnaba. Once in Riva Grassa, the tour ends soon arriving in the center of the town of Segusino.
Curiosities
The oratory of San Barnaba, that for the locals is mentioned as “Santa Barnaba” is also remembered as “Ceséta del Diaolét” for the presence of a small painted devil sitting at the foot of St. Barnabas in the altar picture. It is said that this was added by the will of the parish priest to exorcise the lack of devotion of the masons who were building the church, who saw a sneering devil sitting outside the construction site while “the lime did not grip, the woods cracked and the nails came out of their seat after being stuck”.
