The path

Description

From IV November Square to Tarzo, follow the signs n.1051 and n.1051B which will take us to “Via Valmus” and the “Foran” path up to the village of Fratta. Here begins the “Via dei Murals” that winds through the streets of the town up to the hamlet of Colmaggiore. A detour allows you to visit the “Val del le Femene” park located on the banks of the “Revine” lakes. From the dairy go up to the fraction of Nogarolo, then to the top of “Comun” mountain (490m) and then conclude the tour again in the town of Tarzo.

Curiosities

Not far from the centre of Tarzo, there is a truly little paradise of nature: the “Bonsai Garden Museum of Serenity”. It was founded in 1997 by Armando Dal Col, who still care the plants with his wife Haina. Wandering among the Japanese lanterns that intersperse the small trees, you are catapulted into a journey through the wonders in miniature. In the various spaces created on the hill there are many examples of bonsai of all types, from evergreen conifers to fruit trees. It is precisely the variety of the species exposed that has allowed Armando to consecrate his fame as a master of bonsai, not only nationally, but also internationally, so much to that in 1986 a beech specimen was awarded the title of world’s champion by the “Nippon Bonsai Association”. “The Patriarch Beech”, as this wonderful bonsai was baptized, was obtained from a dying shrub collected in 1970 in the location of “Col Indes”, in the province of Belluno and at that time the count of the annual growth rings was two hundred units. In 2020 it turned 250 years old. The museum covers an area of one thousand square meters on the slopes of “Comun mountain” and is also open to the public with guided tours by appointment.
