The path
Description
From the town hall of “Cordignano”, the hamlet of “Villa” can be reached via the “old road”, crossing the fords of the “Obole” and “Insuga” canals. You walk on country roads until you reach the highest point of the tour with a splendid view of the plain. Once in the locality of “Borgo Santa Felicita”, you go down to “Villa Mocenigo” (17th century) then you reach the “Pascole” grove and then go down again through the vineyards. The last stretch winds along the nature trail created along the banks of the streams named “Friga” and “Meschio”.
Curiosities
In addition to the richness of the land and its products, the village of “Cordignano” has always been a territory devoted to craftsmanship, deriving from a centuries-old woodworking activity from the Cansiglio mountain plain which has allowed the birth of solid business realities, today inserted in an international context. Tradition born from the pioneering spirit of many families who, in the past, dedicated themselves to the production of coal in the high mountain areas. Precisely in memory of this tiring work, starting from 1983 a group of former charcoal burners decided to re-propose, in the locality of “Lamar”, the charcoal burner’s work camp and cyclically the rite of building the charcoal pit, called in the past “pojat”, thanks to the event dedicated to the coalmen. The area is part of the path of the Patriarch in the Cansiglio forest at 850 meters above sea level and is recognized as “Coalmen Park”. Thanks to redevelopment interventions, it has become one of the five Thematic-Didactic Parks of this land (“Livelét Archaeological Park” in Revine Lago village, “Caglieron Caves Park” in the locality of Fregona, “Fantasy Park” in the hamlet of Sarmede, “Olive trees Park” in the location of Cappella Maggiore and the aforementioned “Coalmen Park” in the village of Cordignano).
