The path
Description
From the parish church in the village of Soligo, descend on the ancient “Strada delle Cavade” and skirt the Soligo river in a northerly direction until you cross the marker n. 002. Go up along the dirt road in the Bosco Impero until you reach the village of Collagù. Join the Giuliana Road, the long crossing of hills will begin, in the order “Col Maor”, “Colesìe” hills and “Col Vinal”, “Pian Serafin”, “Monte Pertegar”, “Roccolo”, “Monte Moncader”. From “Campo Farel” location, go down through hairpin bends among the vineyards to the small church of “San Vigilio”, which dominated the hamlet of Col San Martino from above where the excursion ends.
Curiosities
Shortly before descending to the hamlet of Col San Martino, perched on the top of a hill there is the beautiful church of “San Vigilio”, bishop of Trento and evangelizer of the Alpine valleys. It is mentioned in documents from 1217, but it assumes its current romanesque appearance between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, a period in which the construction of the bell tower takes place. Inside there are some ancient frescoes depicting the “Our Lady with a child and San Nicola”, “San Giorgio” and the dragon, “San Floriano” martyr and “San Bernardino” from Siena.
