The path
Description
From Roma square in the hamlet of Cison di Valmarino follow the pedestrian path that crosses the “Rujo” stream until you meet the Ancient Main Road after “Via della Calata”. Continue through meadows and woods to the east and crossed the provincial road, continuing on the plain along the pedestrian path that leads to the fraction of “Borgo Mura” to the west. Continue entering in the south part of Cison di Valmarino, to complete the ring again in the square Roma.
Curiosities
The Ancient Via Maestra, already documented in 1609, was designed to cover the northern shoulder of the Valley at a higher altitude than the current provincial road, connecting the towns of Serravalle and Follina. In the Napoleonic and Austro-Hungarian maps, it is cited as the “Municipal Road di Sopra”. The street was abandoned in 1842 with the opening of the current road of the Valley.
