The path

Description

From the parish church of “San Pancrazio” in the locality of “Montaner”, follow the “Pagnoca” path n. 1061 which will lead us up to the the little church. Via trail n. 1039, continue between the typical houses and panoramic meadows in the location of “Pianai”, then cross the impervious “Val Salega” via “Scaffe” path and then descend to the road named “Scalette” and the “Sant’Anna” capital. Among olive trees and plateaus, you reach the locality of “Casera Cosolìt”, closing the ring again in the hamlet of “Montaner”.

Curiosities

In the 1960s, with the death of the beloved parish priest Giuseppe Faè, the population rose up following the decision of Bishop Albino Luciani to designate a successor, different from the one desired by the parishioners. The tension was so great that, on the day of his inauguration, the new priest found the door walled up and for a long time the town was guarded by the police. Albino Luciani, later known as Pope John Paul I, ordered the parish ban by taking the Blessed Sacrament from the church.  The people of Montaner hamlet promoted a small schism, creating a community and an Orthodox church, which is still active today.
